Trust & Safety
Payments between buyers & sellers
Sellabout is a listings platform. Money never flows through us — buyers pay sellers directly using the seller's preferred personal payment method.
How payment works
- Buyer taps Contact seller to buy on an item.
- The dialog shows the seller's enabled payment handles — Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and/or cash in person.
- Buyer and seller agree on price, pickup time, and payment method via the messaging feature.
- Buyer pays the seller directly through the chosen app, and picks up the item.
Sellabout is not a payment processor
Sellabout does not collect, hold, or transfer any funds for item sales. We do not have visibility into the payment itself, and we are not a party to the transaction.
This means there are no refunds or chargebacks through Sellabout. Any dispute is between the buyer and seller, and should be resolved through the payment app they used (Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, etc.).
Recommended safety practices
- Meet in person for pickup whenever possible. Inspect the item before sending payment.
- For higher-value items, prefer payment methods with buyer/seller protection (e.g. PayPal Goods & Services).
- Screenshot the agreed price, item, and pickup time from your message thread.
- Never share extra personal or financial info beyond what the payment app requires.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels off, walk away.
Seller responsibilities
- List accurate handles (Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App) under Payment methods on your dashboard.
- Honor the price and condition you posted.
- Communicate clearly about pickup windows and any cancellations.
Reporting bad actors
If a buyer or seller misbehaves (scam, no-show, misrepresented item, abuse), report them from the sale page or contact support. We can suspend accounts and remove listings, but we cannot reverse a payment made off-platform.
