The short version
- You can browse sales without an account.
- We collect only what we need to run the platform.
- We don't sell your personal data — ever.
- Sellabout does not process item payments — buyers pay sellers directly through their own apps (Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or cash).
- You can delete your account and your data at any time.
1. What we collect
Account info: name, email, and (optionally) phone number when you sign up.
Listing info: sale title, description, photos, location/address, and dates you share when creating a sale or community.
Seller payment handles: the Zelle / PayPal / Venmo / Cash App identifiers you choose to display on your sale pages. These are visible to anyone who views your public sale.
Membership & ad billing: for paid seller memberships and advertiser campaigns, payment data is handled by Stripe — we never see your full card number.
Browsing data: approximate location (if you allow it), the sales you favorite, and basic analytics like page views.
2. What we use it for
- Showing you nearby sales on the map.
- Letting sellers and buyers message each other about items.
- Sending reminders for followed sales, sale start times, and community events.
- Keeping the platform safe (fraud prevention, moderation).
- Improving Sellabout over time (aggregate analytics only).
3. What we share
We share information only with the people and services that need it to run the platform:
- Sellers ↔ buyers through the in-app messaging feature (the name you've set on your profile and the messages you send).
- Stripe for Sellabout membership and advertiser-campaign billing only.
- Service providers we use to host the site, send email/SMS, and store images.
- Law enforcement only when legally required.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. Public information
When you publish a sale, classified ad, or community event, the information on that page (title, photos, neighborhood, dates, and any payment handles you've chosen to display) is public and can be indexed by search engines. Your exact street address is published on the sale page so buyers can find you.
5. Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to measure basic site usage. We don't use cross-site advertising trackers.
6. Your rights
You can update or delete your account from your dashboard. You can request a copy of your data or full deletion by contacting support. We respond within 30 days.
7. Children
Sellabout is not for anyone under 18. Don't create an account or list items if you're under 18.
8. Changes
We'll update this page when our practices change and bump the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be emailed to active accounts.
